Successful 12th European Symposium on Controlled Drug Delivery
The 12th edition of the European Symposium on Controlled Drug Delivery was held on 4 to 6 April, 2012 in Hotel Zuiderduin in Egmond aan Zee, The Netherlands.
The beautiful location of hotel Zuiderduin (www.zuiderduin.nl), near the sandy beaches, and the excellent symposium program ensured a relaxing and scientifically rewarding event.
A high level multidisciplinary program was offered where 26 leading pharmaceutical scientists, polymer scientists, bioengineers, biochemists, and tissue engineers from European and non-European countries have given plenary lectures about cutting edge topics in the field of controlled drug and gene delivery. During the poster session 110 researchers have presented and discussed their recent results in this rapidly developing and exciting area. Also the poster presentations were of very high quality and the jury for the poster prizes had a very hard task to select the three award winners.
Scientific topics of the symposium were:
· |
ULTRASOUND MEDIATED DRUG DELIVERY |
· |
PROTEIN DELIVERY / PARTICULATE VACCINE DELIVERY |
· |
NOVEL CONCEPTS, MATERIALS AND TECHNIQUES IN CONTROLLED DRUG DELIVERY |
· |
GENERAL / INDUSTRIAL DRUG DELIVERY RESEARCH |
· |
IMAGE-GUIDED AND TRIGGERED DRUG RELEASE |
· |
BIOACTIVE DELIVERY FOR TISSUE ENGINEERING |
The highly qualified lectures and poster presentations, and the interactive participation of all 160 participants from 28 different countries have made this symposium to a great success. The organizers thank them all for their contributions and also our sponsors: Philips, DSM, MIRA, and Elsevier who helped to make this symposium possible with their generous financial support.
We are already looking forward to meet again at the 13th European Symposium on Controlled Drug Delivery that is planned in April 2014.
